Night-Walkers

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105"

Life isn't filled with peaches and cream. It's not always rainbows and sunshine. but the rainbows come when the rains fall. God's word says His word is a lamp unto my feet. Consider this why would we need a lamp in the daylight? If life easy and always filled with a symbolic sunshine, would we need a lamp to guide our steps? God knew it wouldn't be easy. He never promised to make it easy, but he said he would get us through.

Life is Hard. Sometimes we will be called to walk through darker times. In those dark times we need to hold our light closer. Allow God's word to guide your steps. If you're walking through an addiction you can say "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. I CAN overcome this addiction. I CAN do this." In my darkest hour when we think we are alone and defeated we can rise up with God's word to say, "He is with me and will never leave me." When we find ourselves in the middle of a storm we can remember there will always be storms. God will either call you to walk on the water, or he'll calm the storm around you.

The darkness is not a time to retreat. Don't quit when you are walking through darkness. The night will pass. Daylight will come. Don't sit in your defeat. Don't turn off your lamp. Let that light of God shine through you and guide you until the daylight comes. Trust in God. Trust in His word when He says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust God when He says, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

When you're walking through a dark time and stumble, don't stop and wallow in your pity. Don't sit in your failures. While we're walking in the darkness, we might stumble. It's not an easy task to walk in the dark. Let me reassure you His light will repel all darkness. Our weakness is his strength. With him as our guide we can walk through any situation and come through victoriously. God's grace is greater than any sin we stumble through. There is no limit to God's mercy.

When that darkness comes, we will see it. In that darkness He will counter it with anything we need to get through. When we're weak He will supply strength. When we are fearful, He will provide His boldness. When we are alone, He will send his comforter. When there is sorrow He will send Joy. When there is chaos and discord around us He will send us a PEACE that surpasses all understanding.

My dear friend, we all have dark times to walk through. If I can encourage you and ask, don't sit in those dark times. Don't dwell long enough for the darkness to cover-take you. Don't focus on the trouble. Focus on your victories! Count every victory no matter how big- or how small. Take heart and have courage to know when you choose to walk with God, He will stand with you.
